Professional Seminar

I know that the Gulf South Aviation Maintenance Seminar has become an IA Renewal seminar over the years. I hope it will continue to be a forum for IA Renewal. I also hope it becomes more. My aspiration is that the seminar becomes an opportunity for individual professional growth.

Continuing education is necessary for an individual to maintain their Inspection Authorization. Continuing education should be the standard for all those working in the aviation industry. Professionals will find training and participate. It is an investment in themselves for their employer and their customers. Employers should be willing to invest in their employees also. The return on the investment will be significant.

A well-trained professional can return an aircraft to service with greater speed and confidence.

As a Certified Airframe and Powerplant Mechanic, a Certified Repairman, or any Aviation Maintenance Technician (AMT), we should be working to be better at our job every day. A true professional works at continuously improving their skills and knowledge.

We may be proficient at removing and installing aircraft parts, but there is more to our industry than being a good wrench on the flight line. Interaction with our coworkers and customers is also essential. It is essential because lives depend on those working in the aviation industry to do their job correctly 100% of the time.

There is more to that job than being a good wrench.

It is being a professional.

I am looking forward to seeing everyone. This is just the beginning of a great seminar and a great year.
